Lavonne (Fischer) Blann

Lavonne Fischer Blann passed away on September 30, 2023. She was born June 26, 1926 in Marlin, Texas to parents Paul and Elsie Fischer. Lavonne is preceded in death by her childhood sweetheart and beloved husband of 62 years, Jack Blann, also of Marlin, and her son, Paul Blann. She is survived by her daughters, Bette Prochaska and Mary Cooper and husband Randy, and her grandchildren David Prochaska and partner Katja Schilk, Leslie Prochaska Chamberlain and husband Charlie, Bonnie Cooper Denbo, Ross Cooper, and Drew Prochaska and wife Courtney. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Miles and Mila Prochaska, Marlon Chamberlain, and Thomas and Harris Prochaska.

Lavonne will be remembered for her sweet, loving nature and her beautiful smile. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed baking “Fafa cookies” and sharing them with those she loved, as well as keeping in touch with family and dear friends through cards, phone calls and care packages.

She loved her church and was involved in UMW, Altar Guild, teaching Sunday School, attending Bible Study, playing in the Handbell Choir, and much more.

An avid Aggies and Astros fan, she attended games even in her 90’s.

Lavonne treasured the many travels with Jack on business all over the world, making numerous close friends. She couldn’t believe that this little girl from Marlin, Texas was going to such interesting places and having amazing experiences.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Fair Haven United Methodist Church Handbell Choir, Fair Haven United Methodist Church Food Pantry, or a charity of your choice.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, October 12 at 11:00 A.M. at Fair Haven United Methodist Church at 1330 Gessner Rd, Houston, Texas, 77055.
