Obituary
On Wednesday, June 19, 2024, our beloved, Arristed Rone Jackson Jr, aka Petey/Jack, departed this life after being involved in a car accident on Interstate 10 West at I-610 West. He was taken to University Medical Center, where he died as a result of the injuries sustained during the accident.
Jack was born to the union of the late Arristed Rone Jackson Sr. and Delores Gray Anderson A long life native of Algiers, located on the Westbank of Orleans Parish. He attended and graduated from O.P. Walker High School in 1980. After graduating high school, he briefly worked at Burger King and Pizza Hut. Jack was always a free thinker and a “do it yourself” kind of guy. In order to further his education, he saw it fit to join the US Army in 1982 and follow in his father’s footsteps while at the same time taking advantage of the GI Bill offered to enlisted members of the military. He went on to spend three years active-duty in the US Army, traveling and seeing the world.
After being honorably discharged from his military service in 1985, Jack returned to New Orleans and briefly attended Delgado Community College to study Business Administration. It was during this time that Jack discovered he had a strong affinity for people and a natural gift of salesmanship.
Over the course of the next 20 years of his life, Jack solidified his skills as a salesman by first selling furniture for Superior WaterBeds and later selling educational videos, produced by Synistar Films, to school districts and non-profit across the United States where often times Jack would be the #1 salesman month in and month out.
After the events of August 2005, Jack went on a six-month pilgrimage across the US. It was during this time that he found a new love, the love of photography. As he traversed the states and Canada, he experienced people and places that inspired him to return to the city he loved and start a new business that would combine his gift of sales and his new love, photography.
After a few years of being a tour guide and avid photographer, Jack began selling his photos at the art market on Frenchman and quickly became one of the most sought out artists at the market. His ability to connect with people of all walks of life made him shine and be remembered by his customers, whom he treasured.
Jack believed in challenging those around him to become the best version of selves. He always had a kind word or tried his best to encourage you. If you were attempting to do something, he would sometimes give his advice on the matter. He was always willing to give a helping hand. He deeply cared for his friends and family. You can rest assured, if Jack caught you in a funny or precarious situation, he would never allow you to forget about it. That was one of his many personal traits he shared with the world. His sense of humor made you smile and laugh. Most of all he challenged you to live each day to the fullest and that’s what made him special.

If Jack had one more opportunity to tell us something before his unexpected demise, he may have said something like this this:
Before you Pray- Believe
Before you speak - Listen
Before you spend - Earn
Before you write – Think
Before you Quit - Try
Before you Die - LIVE!
You will be missed!
