A service celebrating the life of Daisy Yeoman, age 99, will be held at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, La. 70072. Visitation begins at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 14, 2016, followed by services at 3:00 p.m.
Daisy was born in Yellville, Ark to Fredrick and Daisy Bell Garver, surviving her 8 siblings. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 4th in Houston, Texas with her loving daughter at her side.
Daisy married Paul Max Yeoman (1911-1977) in 1941, the love of her life. They had 3 children, the youngest which has passed on, Alan (1957-2009). She leaves to cherish her memory: her children Kenneth Yeoman and Donna Adams of Houston, Tx; her sister-in-law Ethyl and (Lloyd) Knacksteadt of Kansas City, Ks; her daughter-in-laws Carleita and Kathy Yeoman; her grandchildren Daniel and Lisa Yeoman; along with numerous nieces and nephews from coast to coast.
Vera met Max through her sister while working at a hotel in West Plains, Mo; to close friends and family they always used their middle names. After relocating to Tulsa, Ok, both worked building aircraft bombers for WWII, aka Rosie the Riveter. Max continued on in the aircraft business until retirement, but Vera felt the need to raise her children as a housewife when Kenny was born. She loved gardening, continuing to do so until she could no longer manage that labor of love. It was only fitting for the daughter of a tenant farmer during the Great Depression. And she grew the largest and sweetest tomatoes ever! Yum! Later in life she took up painting for a while, motivated by a visit to her sister Lura in California. Vera could play the guitar and harmonica, taking the musical genetics in the family along with her oldest brother Ray, who could pick up any instrument and play it. She faithfully believed in and worshiped the one true God, Jehovah, being a Witness since the 1940’s.
Arrangements under the direction of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, Marrero, Louisiana.
