

Delia De Jesus Ramirez Perojo, age 79, passed away unexpectedly on September 3, 2020. Delia was born January 2, 1941 in Managua, Nicaragua, daughter of José Santos Ramírez and Delia Maria Ramírez Burgos.
Delia is preceded in death by her parents, late husband Francisco Eduardo Servilla, and her daughter Carmen Delia Xenakis Gum. She is survived by her beloved husband Danilo Perojo; her daughters and sons-in-law, Claudia Xenakis Cortés (Servio), Leigh Jones Laney (Bryan), Ana Servilla Ayestas (Carlos), Patricia Servilla Self (Calvin), and Dr. Gregory Gum; stepchildren and spouses, Cristina Servilla Wehmeyer (Alfred), Javier Servilla, Barbara Perojo (Alex), and Aleida Perojo Nunez (John); grandchildren, Alexander, Julia, and Clara Gum, Nicole Gum Frankenhauser (Stefan), Claudia Cortés, Ashley Cortés Kahn (Jeffrey), Keighly, Lauren, and Maris Laney, Priscilla Self, Adrian and Sophia Ayestas; step-grandchildren, Juan and Ana Servilla; great-grandchildren, Winslet Kahn and Olivia Frankenhauser; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Delia moved to Montreal, Canada from Managua, Nicaraugua when she was 16 where she attended boarding school. Later, she moved to New Orleans at 21, always driven and hardworking, she worked as an executive secretary for Whitney Bank, Pan American Life Insurance Company, and First NBC Bank. Her most recent work was with Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans doing translations for immigration until she retired in 2016. A devout Catholic, she spent many years as a parishioner, lector, and choir member at Christ the King Catholic Church. Delia's family will always remember her for her sweet, funny, and sincere charm and the love and pride she had for her family. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing different genres of music, from spanish ballads to Judy Garland and Patsy Cline. She loved old classic films and musicals. One of our family favorites became the Wizard of Oz. She will always be looked for somewhere over the rainbow, and she will forever be missed.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 12pm followed by a Memorial Mass at 1pm at Christ the King Church 535 Deerfield Rd.Gretna, La 70056. Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Covid-19 precautions will be observed with respect to social distance seating and mandatory wearing of masks.
