Diana Carol Harmon Barrios was born on August 29th,1946 to her loving parents Hilda and Ray Harmon. Growing up in Missouri where she was born, she loved spending time with her mother and father. She eventually moved to Louisiana and made the Westbank area her permanent home. She graduated from West Jeff High School, and proceeded to attend secretarial school where she excelled in her program quickly. This lead her to landing a job at Southern Pacific Railroad (now Union Pacific Railroad). She lived life the way she wanted to and loved creating new experiences for herself. Diana got to be a playboy bunny for a day, took a road trip around the United States to visit national parks, and dove into her love for cooking at a young age.
While working at the railroad, Diana met her future husband Robert Barrios and they had their one and only daughter, Michelle. In every photo they had together, Michelle was a bright light in her life that represented a new chapter for Diana: motherhood. Diana grew up raising her daughter alongside her parents while they lived at neighboring houses with a beautiful, connected backyard. In 2004, her wish came true of becoming a grandma when her only grandchild, Sophia, was born. She helped in raising her alongside Michelle and her son-in-law, Saleem, often cooking and baking Sophia’s favorite dish as a child, noodles and butter. As she got older, she shared a very special bond with Michelle and Sophia, living all together for the last 11 years of her life.
Diana was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend to many people that she had in her life. Her favorites things to do were cook and feed others, watch true crime shows, and spend time with her last companion, Gambit. She did nothing but give and dedicate her life to making others happy, especially when it came to Michelle and Sophia. On August 13, 2024, Diana was surrounded by them as she spent her last moments on earth, each hand being held by both.
Diana is survived by her loving daughter, granddaughter, puppy, extended family, and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, mother, and sister.
One thing about Diana was that she loved any and all animals, especially poodles. She and her mom always found a way to donate to any animal shelter they could throughout both of their lives, so we ask that you to donate to any animal shelter in her memory because that’s what she loved most.
