Dolores Rita Hellwig

Dolores "Dee" Este Hellwig passed away on July 10, 2022 at the age of 87. She was born in Westwego, Louisiana on July 8, 1935 to the late Robert and Leona Cambre Este. She was the devoted wife of Lionel Leonard Hellwig. Loving mother of Nelson Hellwig (Amanda) and Lisa Hellwig McLeod (David) and step-mother of the late Karen Hellwig Kalman and Kathy Hellwig Donellan. Proud grandmother of Traci Howerton (Christian), Patrick Donellan II (Tiffanie), Michelle Pruitt (Rob), Ryan Kalman (Alex), Luke McLeod, Sarah Hellwig, Nathan Hellwig, Drew McLeod and great-grandmother Patrick Donellan III, Peyton Donellan, Cael Howerton, Mia Pruitt, Reese Pruitt, Chase Kalman and Hunter Kalman. Sister of the late Robert Este, Jr., Gilbert Este, Richard Este, Lillian Este Ronquille, Donald Este and Jimmy Este. Dee is also survived by her best friend, Kathi Burgett, many nieces, nephews, cousins and other dear friends.

Dee was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church in Westwego, Louisiana, Nicholson Golden Age Club, the Red Hat Society and the Marrero Lion's Club. She retired as a personal lines account manager at Morrison Insurance Agency. Dee enjoyed traveling and dancing but most of all she loved spending time with family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Saturday, July 16, 2022 beginning at 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM followed by the burial at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery, Gates of Heaven in Westwego.
