Elwyn J. Nicholson, four term state senator for Jefferson Parish from 1972-1988, and President of Nicholson and Loup Food Giant, died of natural causes on Sunday, September 28, 2014, at the age of 90. Senator Nicholson is survived by his wife of 68 years, Rose Marie Nicholson and his sister, Carole N. Malbrough. He is also survived by his children, Sharon N. Lewis (Michael,) and John W. Nicholson III (Kathleen.) Survived also by grandchildren Matthew and Celeste Lewis, Anne, John IV, William Nicholson and Kristie N. Lapish. He leaves to cherish his memory five great-grandchildren. Pre-deceasing him was his brother, Dr. Farrell R. Nicholson and parents Eve and John Nicholson. A memorial service will be held at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 West Bank Expressway, Marrero, La., on Friday, October 17, 2014. Visitation will be from 8:00-10:00am, followed by a funeral Mass and interment in Metairie Cemetery.
