Floyd Joseph Hargis

Floyd Joseph Hargis entered peacefully into heaven on Thursday, July 21, 2016, at the age of 81. A native and resident of Marrero, Louisiana. Devoted husband of the late Brenda Granier Stoufflet Hargis, previously married to Joan Breaux Hargis Taravella and a beloved friend of Doris "Dot" Breaux. A loving father of Peggy Hargis Harris Butler (Wayne), Michael David Hargis (Denise) and Chris Paul Hargis. Step-father of David (Ingrid), Mickey (Anna) and Mark Stoufflet (Melissa). A proud grandfather of Nicole H. Campiso (Tony), Gregg A. Harris (Rachel), Lacie H. Treadaway (Alexis), Chase Michael Hargis (Ginny) and step-grandfather of Betina “Tina” Butler, Ian, Jeremy, Alexandra, Gabriella,Justin, Jake, and Sophia Stoufflet. He was a great grandfather of 7 great grandchildren and 4 step-great grandchildren. Son of the late Ludevine Callegan Hargis and Emile Hargis. Brother of Murphy Hargis (the late Beatrice), Jerry Hargis (Carolyn), and preceded in death by Anna Mae Gaubert (Roy) and Clifton Hargis (Rosemary and Rose). He is also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Floyd worked for Continental Can Co. and Avondale Ship Yard. He was the owner of a Janitorial Service in Marrero for many years and enjoyed dancing, golf, bingo, fishing, playing cards with friends and family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a summit Memorial Mass at St. Jochim Catholic Church, 5505 Barataria Blvd., Marrero, LA on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 11:00 am. A Rosary will be said at 10:30 am in the church with a visitation starting at 10:00am.
