
Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Earline, his children Gary Jr. (Victoria) and Damon (Brandy), his two grandchildren Tyler (Fran) and Avery (Jason “Fern”), his two great-grandchildren Elijah and Noah, brothers Gene and Alcee and sister Sheryl. He was preceded in death by his parents Phillip and Marie Duplessis.
An amazing soulmate and husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, father-in-law, brother and friend, Gary will forever be known and remembered for his faith in the Lord, integrity, strength, determination and unwavering dedication to all those he loved. He worked for over 30 years as a CAD draftsman, taking pride in every piece of work he produced. Outside of work he loved traveling, golfing, camping, cruising, cooking, was a member of the 11th Ward Men’s Club and more than anything loved and deeply cherished spending quality time with his family.
Gary believed deeply in showing up for family, for friends and his community. His legacy lives on in the values he has passed down and the many lives he has touched.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, LA, on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Inurnment will be at a later date.
