She was born on July 30, 1941, in Marrero, Louisiana to Cleveland Martin and Marie Plaisance Martin. She is preceded in death by her parents and four siblings: Joseph Martin, Ruth DeSalvo, A.J. Martin, and Gertie Bourgeois.
Gerry met the love of her life, Aubrey Baudean, Sr., at a dance hall when she was a teenager. They shared 69 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they joined the Peace Corps., traveled the world, and lived overseas in the Solomon Islands and Singapore for years. She loved to dance, play cards, and spend quality time laughing with family and friends in her home. Her humor was contagious and almost always filled the room with giggles, cackles and tears of laughter.
Gerry received the Holy Ghost over sixty years ago and became a pillar of her church community. She believed in serving others, especially those in need, and exemplified the love of Christ by giving freely of her time, food, money and resources. She was always eager to help a friend or family member. No matter the circumstances, she uplifted others by reminding them, “You’re a child of the King” and “You’re blessed and highly favored.”
Above all, Gerry loved her family and served as its matriarch. She was always a steady and safe harbor, a place to find refuge and feel loved, supported, and cared for.
Gerry is survived by her loving husband, Aubrey Baudean, Sr., and their three children: Aubrey Baudean, Jr. (Cindy), Chris Baudean, Sr. (Debbie), and Troy Baudean, Sr. (Marguerite). She also leaves behind her grandchildren, or to whom she affectionately coined the song “The Baudean Gang”: Chris Baudean, Jr., Troy Baudean, Jr. (Courtney), Angela Baudean (Ryan), Emily Baudean-Duran (Josh), Whitney Baudean, Brittney Baudean (Von Herman), Aubrey Baudean III (Amy), and Nicholas Baudean (Brianna), as well as 16 great-grandchildren.
May you rest in peace, but please know you have made heaven a place we long to see.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation for Gerry on April 4, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at First Pentecostal Church, 3200 Ames Blvd in Marrero. Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm and burial will immediately follow.
