Gloria Maria Ortega

Gloria Maria Ortega, age 95, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025, in Marrero, Louisiana. Born on February 18, 1930, in Puerto Rico, Gloria lived a long and full life marked by devotion to family and simple joys that brought her happiness.

Gloria was the beloved daughter of the late Genara Quintana and Antonio Ortega. Her legacy continues through her devoted children: daughter Luz Mezquita and her husband Francisco, and son Thomas Garcia Sr. and his wife Almire. Gloria also leaves behind five cherished grandsons: Angel Garcia, Francisco Mezquita Jr., John Montalvo, Javier Mezquita Sr., and Thomas Garcia Jr., each of whom held a special place in her heart. In addition, she leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren who will always cherish her memory.

Throughout her life, Gloria found joy in travel—especially cruising—and delighted in the excitement of BINGO games. She also enjoyed watching episodes of "Walker, Texas Ranger," a favorite pastime that brought her entertainment over the years.

Family and friends are invited to honor Gloria’s life on Saturday, April 26, 2025. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Westside/Leitz Eagan Funeral Home, located at 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero, Louisiana. A Funeral Mass will follow at the same location at 1:00 PM. Interment, Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
