Henry H. Robinson began his heavenly journey on February 9, 2022 at the age of 84. He was born on September 4, 1937 in Charleston, Mississippi to the late Henry Lee and Rosie Mae Little Robinson. He now joins his beloved wife, Celina Alario Robinson and his daughter Tracy Robinson LeBlanc. He is survived by his beloved children, Dale Robinson, Rhonda Wise, Cindy Falgout (Robert), Douglas Robinson (Tori) and Philip LeBlanc whom he has forever called his son-in-law. Also left behind to cherish their memories of him and whom he dearly loved are his grandchildren Matthew Robinson, Stephanie Jones, Jessica Capdeboscq, Justin Paternostro, Brian (BJ) Sampey, Heather Breaux, Whitney Robinson and Judah Robinson. He was also a proud great-grandfather of Tinsley Robinson, Meredith and Mason Jones, Bryson Paternostro, Kamryn and Grasyn Capdeboscq, Isabella Ockman and Mia and Zoe Breaux. Dad is also survived by many brother and sister-in-law's, nieces, nephews and other extended family that he loved dearly and they all meant the world to him.
Dad was proud to be a Mississippi boy and loved his many relatives that live throughout the state. He attended the University of Mississippi in Oxford for a short time. He was also a proud Marine and believed in God, his country and his family. He came to Louisiana with his father for work but ended up finding the love of his life, Celina. They met in the city of Westwego and that is where they made their home and raised their 5 children. Dad retired from Avondale Shipyard after more than 40 years of dedicated work. He also worked part time jobs with Alavio Brothers and Bob Alario and Sons. Dad loved his native state of Mississippi and everything "Ole Miss' but he also loved his adopted city of Westwego. In his last days, due to dementia, speaking became very difficult for him. He couldn't express his thoughts, but in his time of clarity he knew exactly what he was saying. One of his last clear statements was "I want to go to my home in Westwego." Some may find that sad but, for us, it was an affirmation of his love of home, his city and his family.
Dad had many relatives that he loved dearly. Most of the elders have passed now but he kept in contact with the rest of the family until he couldn't find his words any longer. He still considered his wife's family his own and loved them just the same and each one mattered to him. He was a man with a big, pure heart and he loved you all. He was especially proud of his grand and great-grandchildren. He loved his little ones so much. Whenever they came to visit him, he would just light up, beaming with love. They made him laugh and gave him such joy. He always told them with each arrival and departure “Give Paw a hug.” and they lovingly did so. He wore many hats as grandfather and great-grandfather. He was lovingly known as Poppy, Paw, Paw-Paw and Paw Robby.
The family would like to thank their "extended family" at The Blake of Colonial Club Assisted Living and Retirement Community in Harahan for the excellent care of their dad. They are most grateful to each of you and their hearts are filled with thankfulness for the love that was shown to them on one of the hardest days. They will never forget, after saying their final goodbyes, they opened the door to leave and they saw the staff and aids of The Blake, lined up on both sides of the hallway. Many of you were weeping and waiting to say your goodbyes too. That act of kindness and loyalty to their dad will forever be in their hearts and minds and they thank you so very much.
A message to their father: Dad, you were the best of men. The love you bestowed upon us our entire lives will sustain us until our lives too have passed. Your goodness of heart, your kind gentle nature and your unconditional love has laid a path for us all to follow. Now, we are the best of people too, because of you. Our greatest desire was to make you proud and for you to know, without a doubt, that we loved you with every fiber of our being. We believe that was accomplished and we are hoping that knowledge will ease our pain. So Dad, we thank you. It is such an honor to be your children. You and Mom gave us a wonderful life filled with love and laughter and a backbone of commitment and strength for troubling times that all will come to endure. Oh Dad, our sweet Dad, we thank you. We love you and we miss you so very much. -- Your Children
