To many words to say how much I love this man. Herman taught me at a young man what work is all about. From trawling,crabbing, trapping. hunting nutria with a stick, working skinning & scraping nutria at Leo KERNERs dock. Thanks Herman for teaching me how to be a man. With tears in my eyes , I hate to say goodbye. Love You Brother In Law. Till we meet again.  Butsy.

Pawpaw Herman made a lasting impact on me through the time we spent together. Some of my favorite moments were the simple ones like sitting together, talking, laughing, and playing dice. Those games became something I truly looked forward to, not just because they were fun, but because they gave me the chance to really know him.

He treated me with kindness from the very beginning, welcoming me into the family without hesitation. Over time, that welcome grew into a genuine friendship and a strong mutual respect that meant a lot to me.

I’m grateful for every conversation, every laugh, and every quiet moment we shared. He was a good man, and I feel lucky to have been part of his life. He will be deeply missed.

I loved Herman like he was my father while in La. My first interaction with Herman and Becky was meeting them at a Lobster Restaurant in New Orleans. Herman was watching Ella eat her lobster and he showed her how you “should” eat a lobster! I asked him for his blessing to marry Mary and he replied with “take care of my daughter and love her is all I ask”. I have Herman and will always love and appreciate the memories we shared as a family.

Some of my sweetest memories in life are tied to my Pawpaw Herman. He was the kind of man who made you feel seen, loved, and understood in the most simple, special ways. As a kid, he was my favorite person to be around. He helped me name my childhood cat, Cracker (Full name: Cracker And Butter) a name that only a grandpa with a good sense of humor and a big heart would help create. I spent countless hours swinging with him on his front porch swing while he sang “Down on Grandpa’s Farm” with me. Those moments were gentle, comforting, and full of the kind of love you don’t appreciate fully until you’re grown. He always paid attention to the little things, like how I never liked my back rubbed when he rocked me or hugged me. Instead, he would pat my back, remembering exactly what made me comfortable. He was always doing whatever he could to make me happy. One of my favorite traditions with him was going to Joe’s Landing. He’d let me get anything I wanted, and without fail I always chose a slush puppy and a Laffy Taffy. He made even the smallest outings feel like an adventure. As I grew older, it was heartwarming to watch him treat my own kids, Dawson and Maddie, with that same tender love he had shown me. He also welcomed my husband, Marc, into the family with open arms. It meant so much to me to see how quickly they connected, not just as family, but as friends. Marc will always cherish the times they spent playing dice together, laughing, teasing, and making memories. Pawpaw Herman was a good man, one who stood for what was right, even when it wasn’t easy. He made us laugh whether he meant to or not, and he had a way of bringing warmth into every room just by being in it. I will always be grateful for the love, the memories, and the kindness he gave so freely. He made a lasting mark on my life, my husband’s life, on my children’s lives, and on the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed, but his love will stay with us forever. ♥️

Pawpaw could make people laugh and smile like nobody else. I still remember when he helped me learn how to read. I would sit on his lap, and he'd get some kind of picture book and we would go through it together. He'd point to the pictures and narrate whatever story he could make up about it, while I'd laugh and "correct" him about what the words really said. He would make me laugh till I cried! 

I remember the feeling of joy when he'd hide candy in his top drawer for Mercedes and I. Sometimes he'd pretend like he forgot, and tell us to check anyway just in case... And it would always be there, every time. I remember how special I felt going trawling with him, which was something he had always wanted to share with me. It meant so much to me that he wanted to teach me about something that was so important in his life.

Pawpaw Herman was an amazing man that I aspired to be like in many ways when I was growing up. The stories he would tell, the way he could always make everyone laugh, the warmth he brought to the room.. I will always remember him. May he rest in peace ❤️

Pawpaw was a treasure. I'll always remember how he favored me and made me feel special. But not just me lol—he made everyone feel seen and loved! He had this way of saying whatever he thought and making us all laugh, even (or especially) when it was a little unfiltered. I'll miss his funny, silly, unserious, and straight-forward nature. He was one of a kind, and I know he's resting in peace now❤️

Me and Herman had so much fun playing at Hollywood casino on the dice table his favorite game to play I enjoy standing there and watching him have so much fun you will be missed 💔

Randy would like to share a memory as we are heartbroken in this moment just hearing about Uncle Herman. 
One Christmas Day I Randy was 7 or 8 years old, received a pinball machine. Uncle Herman decided to play for money with Uncle Chris, Uncle Charlie and me. I won or they let me win, either which way it was one of my good memories. May you rest in peace Uncle Herman love Tammy Randy 😭💔
