

Jacquelyn K. Simmons was received into the light of the Lord on September 12, 2012 at the age of 69 surrounded by her family and loved ones. Born on August 26, 1943 to Octave Gougisha and Marguerite Roche, she was a lifelong resident of Barataria, La. and a native of Gretna, La. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, caring grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband Robert Simmons, her two daughters and sons in-law: Rhonda C. Walker (Dwight, Sr.), Lynette M. Bailey (Carl, Sr.),
and two sons and daughters in-law: Theron F. Simmons (Donna), Michael D. Williams, Sr. (Joyce). In addition, she leaves behind grandchildren Dwight Walker, Jr., Carl Bailey, Jr. (Gessica), Robert Bailey (Holly), Nicholas Walker, Ashley and Angel Simmons. Great-grandchildren Michael Jr., and Angie Williams, Adam Chauvin, Kenleigh Bailey, and Ashton Beter. Also a brother George Gougisha (Mabel), and sisters Shirley Peters and Pearl Adams. A sister in-law to Annie Mae Gougisha, Lucille Gougisha, Margaret Hunter, Delores Paddio, Don Singleton, and Albert Douglas, Sr., also a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving parents Octave and Marguerite Gougisha, her mother in-law Evelyn Simmons, her sister Barbara Patin, her brothers Merlin, Junius, Leroy, and Lloyd Gougisha. She was a long time member of Saint Anthony Catholic Church, where she was a choir member. Arrangements are entrusted to Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Homes in Marrero, La. Visitation is at Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Lafitte, La. on Tuesday September 18, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by mass and dismal at Bailey’s Cemetery in Barataria, La.
