

New Orleans, LA – John August Crutti, beloved husband to Brigitta Crutti, passed away on August 15, 2024. Born on June 14, 1945, in the heart of New Orleans, John lived a life marked by career and family. A proud graduate of Jesuit High School, John furthered his education at Louisiana State University, earning a degree in civil engineering. He was an avid supporter of LSU and cherished his time there as one of the greatest influences on his life. John worked as a dedicated engineer for over 40 years, successfully securing a patent for the conductor guide system for offshore drilling platforms.
Preceded in death by parents Laura (Rapp) and Peter Crutti, former wife MaryAnn Blum, wife Melinda Cotham Crutti, and daughter Rachael Eliska Crutti. John is survived by his loving siblings Peter Crutti (Myra), Joseph Crutti (Deborah), and Barbara Cambre (Larry). He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children: Lorraine Crutti Loy, John “Jay” Crutti Jr. (Jessica), and Sarah Elizabeth Crutti, his grandchildren: Gabrielle Loy McKinney (Drew), David Loy III, Micah Loy, Seth Loy, Camille Loy-Poulos (Anthony), Daniel and Eleanor Crutti, as well as several beloved great-grandchildren.
A memorial service celebrating John’s life will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 11:00AM in the chapel of Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 9:00AM and continue until the service time. Interment will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Gretna, Louisiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Louisiana State University scholarship fund.
