Johnny Lynn Herndon

Johnny Lynn Herndon (John), age 67, entered into Eternal rest on January 15, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones in his home, where he loved to be. He is preceded in death by his mother Meredith Brown Herndon, brother Kenny Herndon, and father in law Lee LeBlanc. John is survived by his loving wife, Paula; his father Kenneth Herndon; sister Ann Corcoran; his children Crystal Green, Amy Cheney (John), LeighAnn Engle (Chris), Shawn Herndon (Alicia), Kyle Herndon (Nina), and Chet Hebert (Rachel); his grandchildren Andrew Shortt, Nina Hawkins (Hunter), BreAnna Dempsey (Aaron), Hunter Green, Tracy Dempsey, Caleigh Engle, Johnny Herndon II, Chloe Herndon, Ricky Herndon, Kenny Herndon, Wyatt Herndon, Elijah Herndon, Penelope Nicholson, Carolyne Engle, and Rori Hebert (February 2024). Great Grandchildren Jaxton Dempsey, Stephanie Shortt, Presleigh Haak and ElliAnna Hawkins; his mother in law Camille "Dubby" LeBlanc; and his brothers in law Michael (Cheryl), David, Blaine, and Stevie (Ivy) LeBlanc. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Johnny served his country proudly in the U.S. Coast Guard. He also retired from Jefferson Parish School System as the Director of Technology. He had a love of music and water from a very young age; which if you knew him, carried over to the pride he had in his backyard, especially his pool. Nothing surpassed the love he had for his family, which was evident by the attendance to any event no matter how big or small, nor the distance he may have had to travel. Johnny is loved so very much and is already missed beyond measure.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Lakeshore Church, 15261 Brewster Road in Covington, Louisiana from 10:00AM until 12:00PM with the service immediately following. Burial will take place at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Drive in Slidell, Louisiana.
