

Larry Joseph Mahler peacefully left his earthly body to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 20, 2021. He was 77, a native of Westwego and a resident of Marrero, Louisiana. Larry was the beloved husband of Glenda Jo Agent Mahler for 57 years. Father of Beth Ann Aymami (David), Shawn Paul Mahler, Jason Joseph Mahler (Connie), Chanc Wayne Joseph Mahler. Son of the late Morris Joseph Mahler and Nolia Valerie Trosclair Mahler. Grandfather of Jared Michael Treadaway (Ashlynn), Jade Lynn Correnti, Alexandria Ivy McConeghy, Paiton Jake Mahler, Jeremiah James Mahler, Jack Joseph Mahler, Chance Faro Mahler, Vance Paul Mahler. Great Grandfather of Ty Francis Treadaway, Chip Duhe, Stevie Lynn Duhe, Emmie Rose Correnti, Jaylani Lynn Edwards. Brother of the late Eula Mae St. Blanc.
Larry was a graduate of West Jefferson High School Class of 1962. He was known at West Jefferson for being on the track team and being one of the greatest for throwing shot put. He also attended Delgado Community College. He owned Larry J. Mahler Welding, Inc. contracted to Chevron Oil Company in Lafitte for most of his career then to Cut Off for a short time. He finished his career as a Fabrication Shop Foreman with Stewart & Stevenson Services where he retired. He spent most of his retired life at his property in Mississippi fishing in his lake, picking blueberries and enjoying being in the woods. He loved playing his guitar and singing for his family and friends. He was a great cook and got most pleasure in watching everyone eating his cooking. He loved telling his favorite cajun jokes and especially those Boudreaux & Thibodeaux jokes. Larry was an LSU Tiger fan who loved watching games with his family especially at Lake Moby. He's had many nicknames throughout his life that people remember him by - Moby, Grizzly and especially Budda. He was loved by many and will be missed dearly. He was the best son, husband, daddy, papaw and friend.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM. Interment will be in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Mausoleum.
