

Mamie Geraldine "Jerrie" Pickering Montgomery passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, March 14, 2022. She was a resident of Bridge City, Louisiana raised in Church Hill, Mississippi, and born in Fayette, Mississippi to the late Frank Edgar Pickering and Deba Loret Gill Pickering. Beloved wife of the late Samuel L. Montgomery, Jr. for over 56 years. Devoted mother of Sharon Winstine (Dennis), Nathan Montgomery (Elizabeth), Shannon Ferrebee (Earl), and the late James Edgar Montgomery. Maw Maw to Dennis Winstine, Jr., Devin Delaney, Daniel Delaney, Quentin Winstine, Ryan Montgomery (Amber), Brittany Fenasci (Shane), Victoria Lorio (Dylan), Erica Denoux (Evan), Zachary Ferrebee (Victoria "Tori"), Hunter Ferrebee, Wyatt Ferrebee, Samantha Ferrebee, and the late Nicholas Winstine. Great Grandmother of Ryan "RJ" Montgomery, Jr., Nathaniel James Montgomery, Olivia Maria Montgomery, Brad Fenasci, Abel Fenasci, Abigail Fenasci, Shealeigh Lorio, Rhett Ferrebee, Breleigh Ferrebee, and Madalynn Reed Ferrebee. Sister of Margie P. O'Flaherty (the late Robert), and the late Myrtis Marie Young (Ira), Estelle "Bobbie" Virginia Bissel, Arthur "Slim" Frank Pickering, Lillie Pearl Pickering, Francis Loret Hudson, Charles Ray Pickering (Gloria "Tee"), Annie Dora Collins (Harvey), Walter "Bo" Fuller Pickering, Lucy Pickering, Eula Mae Miller (Jack), and Betty Jean Pickering. Jerrie is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, neighbors and friends who will miss her dearly.
Jerrie was a 1970 graduate of Louisiana Vocational School. She practiced as an LPN for over 39 years, and retired from Ochsner Foundation Hospital. Jerrie was a devoted member of Bridge City Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Encircler Chapter Number 191. Jerrie lived for her family. She loved cooking and enjoyed baking. Her door was always open to anyone.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 9th, 2022 at 11:00AM in the chapel of Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero, Louisiana. A Memorial visitation will be held from 9:00AM until the service time.
