Step- great grandmother of Jarrison Breaux and Rayne Griffiths. Daughter of the late Emelda Serpas and Aubrey Serpas. She was preceded in death by her three siblings. She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was the best mother and wife as a result of her genuine servant spirit. She not only served and mothered her own children and grandchildren, but extended her care to many of those around her who needed her love and attention. She will be long remembered for her cooking, particularly "Grandma's Spaghetti and Meatballs", and "Grandma's Rice and Gravy". She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord, and there is no doubt that she is rejoicing in Heaven. She struggled during the last few years of her life with Alzheimer's, but never lost her loving care of those around her. She was often referred to as "Mama Mary" in her memory care unit. Despite her issues, she was caring even for the staff of her unit. Her servant's heart was clearly demonstrated in her caring for her ailing mother-in-law during the last 20 years of her life. Being a wife and the mother of mostly boys can be challenging, but she handled it with grace and amazing love. She was most in her element when she was caring for one of her children or grandchildren.
A private funeral service will be held at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, with interment at Westlawn Cemetery in Gretna. Express condolences at www.westsideleitzeagan.com.
