Mary Ellen Maikell

Mary Ellen Remy Maikell, age 84, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2015 at her home in Marrero. Loving mother of John R. Maikell (Satu), Jill Miller (Michael), Stephen Maikell (Debra) and Susan Aucoin (the late Steven Jr.). Proud grandmother of Donald J. Murray, Victoria Maikell, John R. Maikell, Jr., Barbara Maikell, Kristine Maikell, Atte Maikell, Megan Maikell, Marissa Maikell, Ryan Maikell, Valerie Guillot (Jeremy), Dustin Aucoin and Kyle Aucoin. Great Grandmother of Chelsea Sutton and Daytona Guillot. Daughter of the late Edwin Remy and Margaret Evans Nilsen(Oskar). Sister of Evelyn Fiorella, Margaret Springer and the late Shirley Schmidt. Native of New Orleans and a resident of Marrero.

Mary was a retired registered nurse after 19 years of employment at West Jefferson Hospital. She enjoyed playing slot machines and reading and watching the Saints games on TV, but she always had time for her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who loved her. A Special Thanks to St. Joseph Hospice, Delta Home Health, Palliative Care and STAT Home Health for the comfort and care of our mother while she was ill.

Visitation for Family and Friends will take place from 10:00 AM - 12:00 Noon with a Memorial Service immediately following at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, LA 70072 on December 19, 2015.
