She will be remembered by her children; Anthony Raymond Parnell, Stephen William Parnell Jr. (Chanda), Mary Jeanne Hoover (Rhett), Suzanne Galloway Hanna (Robert), and Henry Joseph Parnell (Lisa Campbell).
Mary is survived by twelve grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was a Plaquemines Parish Police dispatcher for seven years. She later retired from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Department as a dispatcher following fifteen years of service. Mary was also a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
She spent her life in Marrero, Louisiana continuing in her late father's legacy as an avid gardener.
She truly enjoyed sharing her harvest of vegetables with her family and friends. As a Catholic, she faithfully continued in the tradition of praying her Rosary regularly and watching Holy Mass on TV. Her home was always open to everyone and will be missed by all her knew her.
Mary was a Breast Cancer survivor. We welcome everyone to wear pink as it was her favorite color, and to honor her as a breast cancer survivor.
A Funeral Service will be held at 4:00PM on Sunday, June 1, 2025 in the chapel of Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero, Louisiana. A visitation will begin at 1:00PM and continue until the Service time. Burial will remain private for her immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, monetary donations towards engraving the mausoleum wall would be greatly appreciated. Please contact Henry Parnell or Mary Jeanne Hoover.
We are forever grateful to all of our family and friends.
