Mary Phelan Mack Songy entered into eternal life peacefully on the 23rd day of February, 2014 at the age of 65. A native of New Orleans and a resident of Gretna, Mrs. Songy is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Robert F. Songy and her daughter, Marielle Louise Songy, for whom she had unquestioning love and devotion. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Hildamae Dazet Mack and John J. Mack, both of whom she loved dearly as they loved her. Mrs. Songy was taken from this earth prematurely by a rare brain affliction, Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease. A private service with a funeral Mass was held at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home with interment in Greenwood Cemetery. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of The Louisiana Continuing Care Hospital and Canon Hospice for their care and support. These are indeed exceptional caregivers.
