Born with Spina Bifida, Mike navigated life’s physical challenges with a calm, accepting spirit. He never let his limitations define him; instead, he lived every moment to the fullest. In his younger years, nothing could stop him—he played football and basketball in the streets with the neighborhood kids, poppin wheelies in his chair, competed as a Special Olympics athlete, and even took his turn behind the wheel of a car. Mike organized a football competition at L.W. Higgins High School which was called "Canes on Wheels".
Mike was a lifelong, die-hard fan of the New Orleans Saints, bleeding black and gold through every season. On game days, his passion for the team trumped anything else that was going on. When he wasn’t cheering for a victory at the Superdome, he was likely listening to KISS. He embraced the band’s themes of celebration and rebellion, living life with a "rock-and-roll" soul.
Beyond the teams and the tunes, Mike’s greatest gift was his profound compassion. He had a rare ability to see the true heart of a person, offering a level of kindness and empathy. He was the glue of his family, loving them with an unmatched intensity.
Mike, as much as you loved us, you were loved ten times over in return. You taught us more about strength, resilience, and unconditional love than any “normal” activity ever could. You are finally free to run, to dance, and to shout—and we know you’re doing it to a KISS soundtrack. Save us a spot in heaven; we will all see you in the afterlife.
Mike is survived by his mother, Debbie Boudreaux Mamolo; his sister, Michelle Shea (Kenny); his nephew, Corbin Shea; and his niece, Milana Shea. He is the loving nephew of Sandra Boutte and Pam Encalade (Nathan).
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 with visitation beginning at 9:30AM until mass time at 11:00AM at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, Louisiana.
In honor of his vibrant spirit, the family invites you to wear your favorite Saints gear or rock-and-roll attire.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be left for the Mamolo Family at www.westsideleitzeagan.com.
