He was the beloved husband of Laurie Keller Walters for 17 years; father of Noah Patrick Walters, Luke Michael Walters, and Brady Andrew Walters; son of the late Patricia Daigle Walters and Alfred Eugene Walters; and brother of Alfred Eugene "Scooter" Walters Jr. and David Errol Walters (Laurie). He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Michael proudly served in the United States Navy and was retired as the director of Information Technology at LSU Health Sciences Center.
He will be remembered for his love of nature and wildlife, particularly photographing birds in their natural element including his own backyard and the Ama levee. However, his biggest love was his family and children. Some of his best times were spent watching and cheering on his boys playing sports or in their school bands. Michael was a dedicated member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church. He lived his faith and believed in instilling it in his children.
The family would like to extend a thank you to Guardian Angel Hospice for their compassion and care during his final illness and the Corporate Angel Network for air transportation to MD Anderson.
Services will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church in Ama, LA on Thursday, December 18, 2025. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. till 12:00 p.m. with a memorial mass following immediately after.
