Nelda Toups Schieffler Esteve

Nelda Toups Schieffler Esteve of Marrero, Louisiana passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at the age of 92. Nelda was born in Lafourche Parish to the late Cleo and Beulah Toups. Beloved wife to the late Wilfred Schieffler and the late Willie Esteve. She is survived by her two sons, Chris Schieffler (the late Paulette) and Matt Schieffler (Patricia) and was preceded in death by her sons, Wilfred “Jimmy” Schieffler, Sr. and Terry Schieffler. She was the Stepmother of Willie Esteve, Mark Esteve, and the late Dennis Esteve. Nelda was the grandmother of Wilfred “Lil Jimmy” Schieffler, Marlo Griffiths, Joseph Stanley, Chase Schieffler (Elaine), Chris Schieffler (Hollie), Sterling Schieffler (Mary), Chelsea Schieffler (Karl), and Carlee Sevin (Troy), as well as a host of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She is the sister of Ruth Posey (the late Bill) and the late Roy Toups (the late Elva). Nelda was also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Nelda possessed a deep love of travel and took great joy in exploring the world, embracing new experiences and cultures along the way. A proud member of her Alpha Phi sorority, she valued the lifelong friendships she maintained with her sisters and treasured the fellowship they shared throughout the years. In addition, she enjoyed the camaraderie and challenge of playing poker. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation for Nelda on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 beginning at 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero. Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 PM and burial will be held at a later date.
