Princetta Graham Byrd

Princetta Graham Byrd was born on Tuesday May 21,1945 in Basile, LA. She was the youngest child of Arthur Graham Sr. And Lurena Spriggins Graham. As a child, she attended New Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Toussaint. She attended public schools in Basile, LA. and graduated from W.W. Steward High School in 1963.

After briefly living in New York, she followed her sister to New Orleans, LA where they all attended Greater St. Peter Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Steve Hedspeth.

Princetta was an employee of the Orleans Parish School Board as a Custodian. She took an early retirement in 1987 due to health reasons. In 1983, she met her late husband, Rev. Alexander E. Byrd Sr. Six months later, they were married. This union remained until his death in December of 2007.

Prince has two sons, Samuel Camel III and Don Graham Sr (Danielle). To the union with Rev. Byrd added six additional children to the family, Kenneth Byrd, Tresa Luckett (Harvey Sr), Nadine Gable (Sam), Karen Nelson, Alexander Byrd Jr, Tiffany Batty (Stephen). Prince leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends

Visitation will be held on March 14, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, at St. John Institutional Missionary Baptist Church, 2538 Jackson Ave, New Orleans followed by the Funeral Service at 10:00 am. The Committal Service will immediately follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 2050 Caton Street in New Orleans.
