Rene J. Cassard Jr.

Rene J. Cassard, Jr. of Marrero, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at the age of 71. He was born in Paincourtville, Louisiana to the late Rene Cassard Sr. and Mary A. Landry Cassard. He was the loving husband of Gail Narvaez Cassard for 29 loving years. Devoted father of Douglas H. Cassard, Tiffany Mavromatis Cockman (Jeremy), and Amanda Mavromatis (Joey). Paw Paw Rene of Tyler Cassard, Jude and Oliver Ali, and Emma and Dean Cockman, and Great Grandfather of Amelia Harrison. Brother of Lois Rollins (the late Danny), John Cassard, Patty Knox (Francis), Nancy Teal (Earl), Billy Cassard, the late Kenneth Cassard, the late Ricky "Rock" Cassard, and the late Bruce Cassard. Rene is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends that are left to cherish his memory.

Rene was drafted into the United States Navy during the time of the Vietnam War where he served his country upon the USS Saratoga. After his tour of duty he began his career with Fina Oil and later worked for Sigma Coatings, Intrepid Stone, and retired from Conklin Metals. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved sports and cheered on LSU and the Saints. Rene was a man of good deeds with a big heart and would help anyone by doing small gestures to show his care. He will be truly missed by all who were lucky enough to know and love him.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, September 21st, 2024 at St. Joachim Catholic Church, 5505 Barataria Boulevard in Marrero, Louisiana. Military Honors will be rendered before the Mass time. Interment will remain private.
