

Roland John Lewis passed away on Monday, December 7, 2009 at his home with his caring family by his side. He was a devoted, loving husband, father and friend. Roland departed this life too soon and will be remembered for his courage and diligent fight against cancer at the age of 59. Preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Evelyn Liteau Lewis, a brother Joseph Lewis, Jr. and a sister Linda Lewis Lee. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 30 years, Susan Rachal Lewis. A son, Roland J. Lewis II (Katrina) of Los Angeles, CA. A daughter, Alexis Katherine Lewis of Marrero. Both of his children were devoted to their father and respected his strong sense of responsibility and honesty. He has two grandchildren, Nathanial Davidson-Lewis and Roland J. Lewis III. Brother-in-law of Diane Fontenette, Maureen R. Cadres (Rory), Karen R. Richardson (Michael), Janet R. Thomas (Harlan) and Willie Rachal, Jr. (Lenika). He is also survived by his sister Cynthia Lewis Boudreaux (Harry) of Laplace, LA and a host of nieces and nephews. Roland was honored with a Purple Heart and Bronze Star with a Combat V for serving bravely in the United States Marine Corp at the rank of Seargent during the Vietnam Conflict War. Relatives and friends of the family, as well as friends, family and members of Monsanto Co., West Jefferson Medical Center are invited to attend the visitation services at WESTSIDE/LEITZ-EAGAN FUNERAL HOME, 5101 WESTBANK EXPRESSWAY, MARRERO. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM when a Funeral Service will be held as well as military honors performed.
