Ruby Walker

Sister Ruby Degree Burras Thompson Walker, a native of Harvey and longtime resident of Terrytown passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at the age of 78. She was born on March 6, 1938 to the union of the late Wilbert and Mary Degree. The wife of the late Edward Burras, William Thompson, and Willie Walker. She was the mother of the late Jarvis (Rosetta) Burrell. She was also preceded in death by her two brothers. She leaves to mourn Delerner, Sallie, Kiva, Marlan, Leara and Sirk (Lionyel) Burras, Willi LaFrance(Wallace) Stevenson, Santana (Marion) Thompson. She will also be missed by her 29 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. She was the Godmother to Barbara Powell, Tyrone Green, and Terrence Wilson. Sister Walker leaves behind one sister, four brothers, and a host of other family and friends. Relatives, friends of the family, members of neighboring affiliated churches, New Home Family Worship Center of Algiers, and The Anointed One Prayer Line are invited to attend the visitation on Saturday, September 17, 2016 from 8-10a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, 434 7th Street, Gretna.
