Ruphus Joseph Boutte

Ruphus Joseph Boutte, of Lafitte, Louisiana passed away peacefully on Friday, December 9th, 2022, at the age of 92. Beloved husband of the late Betty Elliott Boutte for 52 years. Son of the late Wallace Boutte and Gerdie Boutte. Son-In-Law of the late Jimmy Elliott, Tudy and Herbert Knuppel.

Loving Father of Joy Boutte Coulon (Dennis), Darlene Boutte Biondolillo (the late Louis), and the late Daniel "D.J." Boutte, Sr. (Sandra). Ruphus was the grandfather of nine grandchildren: Richard Haley, Jr. (April), Trisha LeBlanc (Gareth III), Curtis Silver, Jr. (Christine), Daniel Boutte, Jr. (Krissy), Sandi Miller (Michael), Natalie Biondolillo (Dave), and the late Ernest Mamolo III, the late Danyell Silver, and the late John Paul Silver. Ruphus is survived by 18 Great Grandchildren, 9 Great Great Grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Ruphus was a lifelong fisherman who loved to fish and hunt, especially ducks. He also enjoyed going to the casino to play the slot machines. When Ruphus was in good health, he enjoyed playing bean bag baseball at the Lafitte Senior Center. Ruphus truly enjoyed life.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Adrianne Gilbert, who displayed a deep love and special care to Ruphus during his time of need. The family would also like to thank the staff at Bayside Healthcare Center and the nursing staff of Anvoi Hospice for their love and caring services.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, December 19th, 2022 in the chapel of Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero, Louisiana. The Mass will be officiated by Father G. Amaldoss. A visitation will begin at the funeral home at 9:00AM and continue until the Mass time. Ruphus will be laid to rest following the Mass at St. Pius X Cemetery in Crown Point, Louisiana.

In lieu of flowers, please consider having Masses prayed in Ruphus' name at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lafitte, Louisiana.
