Truett Paul Cox

Truett "Paul" Cox peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at the age of 84. He was the beloved husband of Clara Hanes-Cox and the late Patsy Cox. Father of Denise Scott, Rhonda Hicks (Harley Sr.), and Althea Cox, as well as the late Allison Patrice Cox and Kenneth Paul Cox. Son of the late Ozzie and Willis Cox, and brother of Billy Cox, Joann Cox, and Mary Joyce McAdams. Grandfather of Eric Madere (Katelyn), Rebeccah Miraflores (Juan de Dios), Kevin Madere (Lisa), Ashley Caceres (Carlos), Harley Hicks Jr., Rachel Hicks, and Gregory Breaux. Great grandfather of Juan de Dios Miraflores III, Sebastian Miraflores, Natalia Caceres, Gabriel Miraflores, Lily Brown, Alessandro Caceres, Eli Madere, Alejandro “Elías” Miraflores, Mya Madere, Isabella Caceres, Destini Belcher, and the late Carlos Caceres Jr. Stepfather of Michael Shelton, Joan Smith, and the late Wayne Shelton.

He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served in North Africa. He retired from the American Commercial Barge Line where he served as a boat captain for many years. He was the chairman of the Deacons at First Baptist Church of Harahan for many years. He had a deep faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He prayed as one who came regularly and boldly into the throne room of heaven, whether in public prayer, small group prayer, or in his own prayer closet.

A funeral service will be held at his church, First Baptist Church of Harahan, on Sunday, July 18, 2021 at 3:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM. Express condolences at www.westsideleitzeagan.com.
