Woodrow "Woody" Joseph Smith

He was the beloved husband of Susan Smith of 22 years; father of Althea Sellers (D-Jay), Wendy Diamond, Kristy Billiot (Horace Jr.), and Nicole Verrett (Bobby II); son of the late Althea and Lawrence (Pop) Smith; brother of Richard "Richie" Smith (Sandy), Anthony Smith (Ethel), and Larry Smith (Carol); and step-son of Sarah Smith. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 6 step-siblings. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

One of his most proudest moments was when his daughter, Althea, and son-in-law D-Jay were given the blessing of becoming parents. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and loved his time trawling with Lil' Troy. He enjoyed his time in Arkansas and Lafitte, duck hunting with family and friends. Few experiences meant more to him than his time at the camp, passing along his passion for hunting and fishing. He never met a stranger and was always willing to go above and beyond to help.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated in the chapel of Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero,LA on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 3:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM.
