

Alan was born on August 18, 1931 in Worcester, MA, a son of the late Paul and Ruth Spaulding Steves.
He is survived by his wife, Micheline Massez Steves; daughter, Lori M. Hoover and her husband, Jeff; sons, Scott Alan Steves and his wife, Gabrielle, and Gregory Alan Steves; grandchildren, Christina Wilson, Clayton Steves, Melissa Summers and her husband, Phillip, Sam Hoover, Jordan Steves and Christian Steves; great-grandchildren, Logan Wilson, Riley Decker ,Tignall Arrington and Ruby Mae Summers.
He is predeceased by his parents, his brother Chip Steves, sister-in-law Jean Steves and daughter-in-law- Patti Steves.
From a humble beginning Alan served his country throughout his military career. He enlisted in the Air Force after high school achieving rank of Master Sergeant. He then switched to the Army where he served tours in Greenland, Germany and Vietnam specializing in cryptography as a Chief Warrant Officer. After retiring from active duty, Alan served another 20 years in civil service at Ft Gordon as an instructor. His special skills as a leader, instructor and mentor, and his quick wit, allowed him to have a positive influence on many other service members.
Besides being a dedicated military man, Alan was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved providing and caring for his family and that love was returned when the time came for them to provide and care for him.
Alan had a wide variety of interests including working on cars with his sons, riding his motorcycle and spending time at the lake on his boats with family and friends.

There will be a visitation at 2:00 followed by a funeral Service with military honors at 4:00 in the chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 4255 Columbia Road, Martinez, on Sunday, December 5th, 2021. Friends invited.
