Betty is survived by her sister Bonita Eileen Hinton, her brothers Royce Estelle Anderson and Lonnie “Andy” Walker Anderson; her children Elaine and Jim Steed, Edie and Alton Roland, Angie and Jeff Magruder, Otis Lamar “Ricky” and Lisa Rickerson , Stephen Eugene and Cathy Rickerson, her 15 grandchildren and her 17 great grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Huey Eugene “Gene” Carter; her mother Marilyn Bedgood Hedges and her father Lonnie Walker Anderson; her brothers Roger Walker Anderson; and Percy Wayne (Ricky) Anderson and her sister Beverly Ann Youngblood.
Betty loved her Church, Bellevue Baptist. She loved country music, lying in the sun at the beach and shopping, but she especially loved spending time with her family more than anything in this world. She babysat children in her home for many years, including many of her grandchildren, and would answer to “Grandma, Mema and Aunt Betty.” Children adored her. She was a great cook and anyone who stopped by at dinner time knew there would be enough food to feed the whole neighborhood; grits, bacon and eggs for breakfast or a bowl of chicken and dumplings for dinner. She loved her husband of 45 years, Gene and they traveled the world together visiting places like Greece and Spain, and they went on many Caribbean cruises and multiple road trips out west. Betty and Gene were always surrounded by family and friends that were like family. Their life was happy together building many memories that will be passed down for generations to come.
A visitation for Betty will be held Sunday, October 19, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 4255 Columbia Road, Martinez, GA 30907. A funeral service will occur Monday, October 20, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Elliott Sons Funeral Home in the chapel with Jerry Pitman officiating.
Betty will be laid to rest in Bellevue Memorial Gardens, 4501 Wrightsboro Road, Grovetown, GA.
Serving as pallbearers are Chris Willis, Todd Greene, Will Johnson, Clay Rickerson, Jake McElroy, Walker Johnson, Cole Steed, Chris Rickerson, Coe Magruder, Jack Magruder, Trey Yergin and Caleb Roland.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Betty's memory may be made to Bellevue Baptist Church , Grovetown, Georgia US.
