

Mr. Charles “Bud” Carter, 83, of Augusta, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015. He was a member of the Exchange Club of Augusta for 64 years and was Past President. Bud was also Past President of the District Exchange Club. He was Scout Master of Troup 88 for 15 years during which time he proudly led over 50 scouts to achieve their Eagle Scout Awards. Through the Georgia-Carolina Council of Boys Scouts, Bud was honored to receive the Silver Beaver Award. As an electrical contractor, Mr. Carter continued his family’s legacy of owning and operating Carter Electric Company which was established in 1927. In addition, he was involved in numerous other business ventures. His laughter and love of life will be deeply missed.
Bud is survived by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 63 years, Peggy Peabody Carter; three sons, Chuck (Deborah) Carter, Keenan (Monica) Carter and Nick (Sabrina) Carter; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; niece, Patti Peabody; and nephew, Prentice (Emily) Peabody.
The family will receive friends 5 – 7 PM, Thursday at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Columbia Road Chapel.
Memorial Services will be held 11 AM, Friday, February 20, 2015 at Warren Baptist Church, 3203 Washington Road, Augusta with Pastors David McKinley, Harold Jones and Roger Murchison officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Exchange Club of Augusta. Burial will be private at Westover Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Augusta Rescue Mission, 526 Walker Street, Augusta, GA 30901.
When Bud was once asked, if reincarnation was real, what would he want to return as, he didn't hesitate. "Me, of course! Nobody has as much fun as I do!"
