Daniel John Rasmusen

Daniel John Rasmusen, 68, passed away on November 17, 2017 at his home in Grovetown, Georgia under the care of hospice. Funeral services were held on November 21, 2017 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home in Grovetown. Burial was at Bellevue Cemetery, Grovetown.

Dan was born on April 27,1949, to Oscar and Violet ( Hinze) Rasmusen in Starbuck, MN. He was baptized and confirmed in Minnewaska Lutheran Church. He graduated from Starbuck High School in 1967.

After graduation, Dan joined the Army and retired after a 20 year career achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class. He served one tour of duty in Korea where he met his future wife, and two four year tours in Germany. On December 1, 1973, he was married to Chuni Choi in Starbuck. While in the Army, Dan also served as a recruiter in Minnesota.

Following his 20 year career in the Army, Dan worked in the Georgia Correctional System for 20 years. Dan attended Augusta Technical College and received a degree in waste management. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, working on old cars and following sports and politics.

Dan is survived by his wife, Chuni, sisters Helen (Jon) Stafsholt of Glenwood, Bonnie (Joe) Devick of Starbuck, Ruth (Bruce) Anderson of Buffalo and brother David Oscar (Tracy) Rasmusen of Starbuck as well as many nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his parents. Blessed be the memory of Dan.
