Debbie was born on May 22, 1952, in Thomaston, Georgia. She was the loving daughter of Ruby Kate
and John Waddell. She was the younger sister of the late Carolyn Waddell Russell (Randy) and aunt to
niece Jennifer Banker (Michael). Debbie was big sister to her adoring brother Mitch Waddell (Debbie)
and aunt to Kristen, Patrick, and Jarrod Waddell of Fort Worth, Texas. Growing up in Thomaston, it was
evident that Debbie was a star. She excelled both academically and in athletics at Robert E. Lee High
School. She enrolled at the University of Georgia, and her star continued to shine. She was a member of
Alpha Chi Omega sorority and graduated in two and a half years. After graduation, she moved to
Augusta, Georgia. She taught Business Education classes at Phillips College, never forgetting her
students and how much their successes meant to her. In 1976, her good friend Barbranne Clinton
introduced her to Augusta's most confirmed bachelor, Jimmy Morris. They knew they'd found their soul
mates.
Debbie married Jimmy on April 24, 1981, and added to her family sisters-in-law Pat Fuller (Allen) and
Gina Annis (Michael). Later she became aunt to Jessica Jobe (Jason), Jennifer Jacobs (Philip), Emily Kelm
(Adam), Chance Fuller and Michael Annis, Junior.
Debbie and Jimmy's family grew through the friendship of their dearest friends Debbie Miller and Bill
Newsome. They also had their precious "Garage Children, Grandchildren, and Friends." Not one day
went by when one or all of the extended family members could not be found in The Morris Garage in
Country Club Hills. That extended family included Mamon, Marc, Nolia, and Mary Hollis Raber, Erin
Jacobs, Kelly, John, Jake, Tyler, and Erin Cashin, Ryan Lambert, Lindsay, Vic, and Tommy Casella, and
Jenny, Brice, Bennett, and Mary Bryson Wright, Bryan and Terri McKettrick, Catherine Luckey, and Teri
Sodomka.
The world is a better place because of her kind spirit, impeccable style, creativity, amazing sense of
humor, and her willingness to love all who knew her. She will be missed.
The family will receive friends 5 until 7pm, Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home – Columbia Road Chapel.
If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
