

She was born in Augusta, GA. As a teenager, she won the national marbles tournament. She spent her adult life giving to others as an RN. She was co-owner of Anne Maria the first skilled nursing facility in the CSRA. It originally opened in Martinez then moved to North Augusta as a 40 bed facility. It later became a 120 bed facility with one wing caring for Alzheimer’s patients and another wing devoted to VA ventilator patients. It was the first facility to provide these services. Another adventure was an adult day care for Alzheimer’s patients. She was also a co-owner of Dogwood Manor Stables in Clarks Hill, SC where Tennessee Walking Horses were trained, boarded, and shown. Her final years of nursing were at MCG epilepsy unit and then as night supervisor over the entire hospital. When in her 60’s she attended USC Aiken and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
She is survived by her sister, Brenda Hobbs Greene, brother in law, Robert Lewis, sister in law, Lori Hobbs, nieces, Kellie Greene Pugh, Eva Anderson, Barbara Toole, Brenda Anne Lowe, nephews, Jessie Keith Greene, Sr., Tommy Hobbs, and Donald Pugh. She was known as “Me Mama” to Michael Luckey, Maria Luckey, Edward Luckey, and to 6 grandboys.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 3pm at Whole Life Ministries, 2621 Washington Rd, Augusta, GA, 30904.
