

Mr. Knight served his country faithfully in the United States Army before retiring as Staff Sergeant after 21 years of service. During his time in the military, he received many awards, including Honorable Character Service Award, Good Conduct Medal as well as a Vietnam Service Medal with two service stars.
Mr. Knight spent most of his retired life in the boating industry, building and repairing boats and motors. He owned and operated several marinas over the years. Aside from his military service and boating expertise, his latest venture was owning B & E Fiberglass before retiring for the last time.
Mr. Knight always had a sense of humor and loved to tell a joke. He always said if someone did not have a good personality and sense of humor they were missing out.
Left to cherish his fond memories are his loving wife, Gertrud Knight; children, Debra (Stan) Brown, Alice Knight (Charles Stradley) and Billy (Carolyn) Knight; grandchildren, Shannon Jordan, Jennifer (John) Burgess; great-grandchildren, Destin Clarke and Jordan Owens; a very special friend Laura Lassiter and many other family and friends.
A memorial service in honor of Mr. Edward Knight Jr. will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday, June 26, 2016 at the Columbia Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends at 1 P.M. until the service hour. Pastor Alvin Jones will be officiating.
