Ingrid Tokar

The daughter of Walter and Katharina Rittner, Ingrid was born October 29, 1942, in Darmstadt Germany. As one of nine children, her youth was spent growing up in the aftermath of a destroyed and war-torn Germany where she helped raise, mentor, and protect her younger siblings. Unbeknownst to her at the time, this difficult era would help lay the foundation for her silent courage, stubborn perseverance, and unyielding inner strength, which would ultimately carry Ingrid through many more hardships with unassuming dignity and refined grace.

At the tender age of 17, Ingrid met and fell in love with an American soldier who made her both a wife and a mother. That soldier brought her to America; a place she would eventually call home. Teaching herself the English language (by watching re-runs of Lucille Ball) and studying the American culture, with great determination Ingrid proudly became a US Citizen. Her newly formed family became her sole focus and even though she divorced young, she worked multiple jobs to make ends meet and to make sure she was always able to aid her children both financially and emotionally. She loved and nurtured her children from their very first breath, until her own final breath……

Ingrid Tokar is survived by her sister, Petra Krones; two brothers, Siegfried Krones and Peter Krones; her sons and their spouses, Francis Tokar and Susanne; Anthony Tokar and Sherri; and her daughter and her spouse, Petra Tokar-Pollock and Ken. Ingrid is also survived by four grandchildren, Lukas Tokar; Jonas Tokar; Michelle Tokar; Maria Tokar; and two great grandchildren, Natalie Wellmaker, and Alison Wellmaker.

Ingrid will be desperately missed by all those she’s left behind and all the lives she has touched. Our hearts are so broken by this unexpected loss. She was one of a kind and to be loved by her was to be truly blessed.

Services will be held on February 27th, 2023, at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 4255 Columbia Road in Martinez GA.

Visitation will begin at 1pm, and a service honoring the life of Ingrid M Tokar will be held in the chapel beginning at 2pm.
