

Mr. Chavous retired from the Colonial Bread Company and Crown Oil. He was a member of the Cathedral of Praise. Mr. Chavous was a Ford man who was also an avid fisherman. Mr. Chavous had a strong relationship with the Lord. He was father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather to those he loved spending his time with.
Mr. Chavous is preceded in death by his mother, Grace C. Chavous. Survivors include his loving wife, best friend, and soul mate, Shirley Anne Chavous; sons, Hugh “Bubba” Ginn (Teresa), Jack Allen Chavous Jr. (Robin), Rick Lee Chavous (Pamela); daughters, Sylvia C. Martin (Robert), Cheryl C. Bell (Mike), Beverly Anne Ferguson (Dale), and Sherry “Renee” Young (Ben), and sister, Jean Alidene Simmons (Johnny); 21 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6-8PM Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home on Columbia Road. Funeral services will be held at 10AM Thursday, April 14, 2016 at the Columbia Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Maddox officiating. Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens with Rev. Brian Lee Martin officiating.
Pallbearers will be Robert Bradley Martin, Brian Lee Martin, Richard Jeremy Graham, Christopher Ryan Abbott, Benjamin Owen Young, and Wesley Harp. Honorary Pallbearers will be Allen Hudson, Ralph Folger Sr., Monroe Ginn, Ricky Graham, Jason Shumaker, Wendell Johnson, Dr. Biagio Vericello, and Joel Lynn. Honorary Pastors will be Rev. Bennie Bush, Pastor Jason Mitchum, Pastor Floyd Harrison III, Rev. Carl Lynn and Rev. DeWaine French
