She Loved the Lord! She was a member of Belvedere Christian Church, and First Christian Church of Augusta. She was deeply committed to her Church and their outreach. She Loved people. Later as Covid set in, she sent cards to anyone and everyone, who was either sick, in need, or just to say “The Lord and I love you”!
Martha loved music, dancing with her husband and kids. She was always quick to show you her moves. Live shows, and travel was always a favorite. But the Passion of her life was her Family. To whom she was wholly committed! Her sons were truly blessed to have Martha and Vernon Giddens as our Parents.
Mom was a Military homemaker, as Dad worked two jobs in order for Mom to stay home and raise their Boys. She did not work until Dad went to Iran (Dad Air Force), then Mom worked for Homestead Draperies, Sears Jewelers, and later Gordon Jewelers. Mom knew her Jewelry! Mom loved her husband, Dad loved his wife, and they both loved their boys! Mom was the ultimate in Family First Parent and Grandparent. Her favorite phrase would have been; “If I knew Grandchildren would have been this much fun, I would have had them first”! She married the love of her life, Vernon Lee Giddens, whom was her next door neighbor. He told his Mother once when standing on their porch, I’m going to marry that girl someday. He did! And after 58 years of Marriage, they were each other’s one and only.
Martha is predeceased in death by her loving husband Vernon of 58 years; her father Emory Fennell of Louisville, Ga.; mother Earline Fennell of Augusta, Ga.; grandmother Lola Dudley of Swainsboro, Ga. Survivors include Tim of Evans Ga., Jeff of Nashville Tn., and Robert (Bo) of Grovetown, Ga; Grandchildren: (9) Maya and Priya (Bo/Gita; Brandon and Bryan (Jeff/Barbara); Christopher, Lauren, Kirsten; Kristina, and Rebekah (Tim/Trish).); One Sister Paula Grose of Evans, Ga.; (13) Great Grandchildren.
