Vasavi N Thakur

Vasavi Narayan Thakur, the strong, lively spirit, bright light, loving, and kind matriarch of the Thakur family, the Augusta community and the world peacefully left this earth on June 10th, 2024 at the age of 78. She loved the entire human race without judgement and spread her love to thousands of people during her life across 3 continents.

Born in Baroda, Gujarat, India on May 3, 1946, Vasavi was the youngest of 3 siblings. She married Narayansingh 'Shyam' Thakur on July 12, 1970. Together they shared a beautiful adventure that took them through India, the US and South Korea. He was also the best caregiver after her life threatening stroke in 1989.

Vasavi's greatest joy was to call everyone on their birthday and anniversary. She remembered over 500 family and friend's birthdays and anniversaries. And she was devoted to music, bhajans and prayer. The most common comment from friends and family is "Vasavi was the most positive person who provided a dose of happiness to everyone!"

Vasavi is survived by her daughter Aditi LaMonaca (Charles her husband) and son Ashish Narayan Thakur (Renuka his wife) along with her grandchildren Ariani LaMonaca, Kishan Singh Thakur and Anish Narayan Thakur. Vasavi is reunited with her husband which gives our family much peace.

A celebration of Vasavi's life will be held on June 12, 2024 at 11a Elliott Funeral Home 4255 Columbia Road, Augusta GA 30907. A video conference link will be provided upon request. On behalf of Vasavi, please give a smile and hug to anyone in need to uplift their spirit!
