

Veronica F. "Ronnie" Prosnak, age 95, passed away, Monday, January 23, 2017. She was born on September 1, 1921 in Houtzdale, Pennsylvania to John and Lena Ferlitch, who preceded her in death; along with her siblings, Lt. Cecelia Ferlitch, Carolena Davis, Loretta Spingola, John "Bud" Ferlitch, and Carl Ferlitch. Also predeceased by her loving husband Major John Prosnak and children Carole Davis (Robert), and John "Mick" Prosnak (MaryAnn). She is survived by her children, Joan Knowles (Robert) of Boulder, Colorado, Mark Prosnak (Cindy) of Southport, North Carolina, Teresa Sappington (Frank) of Augusta, Georgia, grandchildren, Kate Saunders, Ben Murphy, Michael Knowles, Stacy Hymer, Maria Davis, Michael Prosnak, and Jennifer Bruckman, and by seven great grandchildren, and three great, great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Veronica attended nursing school, and upon graduation was commissioned a second-lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps. She served at the Phillipsburg, Pennsylvania hospital, where she met her husband, John, who was also in the Army. Veronica and John, along with their children, traveled to many countries and enjoyed meeting new people in various cultures through their travels. Upon retirement from military service, Veronica and John settled in Martinez, Georgia, where they became entrepreneurs by opening Martinez Laundromat in 1960. Veronica and John continued to operate the business until 2010 and made their home in Martinez until Veronica's passing. In addition to work, Veronica enjoyed golf, reading, and gardening.
Veronica was a devout life member of the Catholic Church and attended St. Teresa of Avila in Martinez and Grovetown.
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Joseph Hospice of Augusta, Georgia, for their excellent care and special attention they gave to Veronica.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial Mass will be held February 24, 2017, 6:00 p.m., at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, 4921 Columbia Road, Grovetown, Georgia. Following Mass, a reception will be held in the church hall. The family request memorial donations to St. Joseph Hospice, 1220 George C. Wilson Dr., Augusta, GA 30909, or charity of choice.
