Barbara "Bobbie" Boyd

Born on September 13, 1938, in Endicott, New York, Barbara was the daughter of the late Perley Amos Lane and Ada “Deats” Lane. She was the eighth of their ten children and the last of her siblings to depart this world.

Barbara was married to Thomas F. Boyd of New York, New York, for 50 years, until his passing in 2009. She is survived by their four children: Lori Pruitt (Richard) of Martinsburg, WV, David Boyd (Charlene) of Albuquerque, NM, Daniel Boyd (Cynthia) of Albuquerque, NM, and Jennifer Boyd-Sapp (Thomas) of Martinsburg, WV.

A lifelong dream of Barbara’s was to become a nurse. However, after marrying shortly after high school, she was unable to join the nursing program as a married student. Once her children reached school age and the rules changed, Barbara pursued her education with determination and graduated from the nursing program at Corning Community College in Corning, New York, in 1977. She went on to have a rewarding career as a registered nurse.

Barbara was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and recently became a great-great-grandmother. She instilled in her children her strong, independent spirit and a firm belief that any challenge could be overcome with faith. Fiercely proud of and protective toward her family, she will be deeply missed.

Barbara was a member of Hedgesville United Methodist Church in Hedgesville, WV.

Family and friends will be received at Rosedale Funeral Home on Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am. Interment will follow in Rosedale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hedgesville United Methodist Church.
