Christopher “Chris” VanMetre passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and devotion to family. Chris was first and foremost a family man who loved his children without measure. His pride and joy were his two minor children, Raylin VanMetre and Kymille VanMetre, whom he cherished deeply.
Chris was known for his strong work ethic and sharp mind. He was a highly skilled mold engineer with multiple professional certifications, a career he took great pride in. Outside of work, he enjoyed collecting various firearms and was passionate about the things that interested him, always eager to learn and share his knowledge. He also loved playing video games, a hobby that brought him joy and connection with friends and family.
Chris was the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need and was someone you could always count on. He was dependable, loyal, and generous to a fault. He also shared a deep bond with his certified support dog, who meant the world to him and provided him comfort, companionship, and unconditional love.
Chris is survived by his loving parents, Kevin and Doris VanMetre; his brothers and sisters, Justin VanMetre, Ashley VanMetre, Kevin Wayne Jr. VanMetre, and Melissa VanMetre; and his grandparents, John and Dolly VanMetre, and Virginia “Virgy” Emmons-Smith. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Donald Smith.
He is also survived by his close friends Thomas, Rafael (“Cubez”), Michael, and Allison, along with many other friends who loved him dearly. Chris leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins who will forever hold him in their hearts.
Chris was welcomed at the gates of Heaven by our Lord, his best friend Brandon, one aunt, two uncles, and his precious child lost in the womb from a previous relationship.
Though his time with us was far too short, Chris’s love for his children, his family, his friends, and his loyal support dog will live on forever. He will be remembered for his kindness, his dependability, and the deep love he carried for those closest to him.
