D. Glenwood Hayes

Born September 28, 1930 he was the son of the late Paul Edward Hayes, Sr. and Else Mae Shipper Hayes.

Glenwood retired as the Fire Chief of the City of Martinsburg after 27 years of service; even though he was retired he still enjoyed going to the fire house every day. He was also a member of Moose Lodge 120 and the F.O. P Police, Martinsburg Fire Fighters Local 805.

In addition to his parents, Glenwood is preceded in death by two sons, David K. Hayes and Anthony S. Gregory.

Glenwood is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nancy L. Hayes; two sons, Glen E. Hayes and wife Judy of Williamsport, MD, and Donald L. Hayes and his wife Vicki of Martinsburg; one daughter Janice Gaynelle Hayes Hess and husband David of Martinsburg; two brothers, Paul E. Hayes, Jr. of Gerrardstown, and Roger Hayes of Jones Spring; two sisters, Cheryl Brindle of Hedgesville, and Darlene Slonaker of Jones Spring; six grand children, Kevin, Brian, Chris, Tara, Britney, and Megan; seven step-grandchildren; several great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews; and two very special caregivers Martha and Joann.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Rosedale Funeral Home from 6pm to 9pm.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Rosedale Funeral Home at 2:00pm with Local 805 Chaplain Jay Watson officiating.

Interment will immediately follow at Rosedale Cemetery.
