David R. Polant, age 61, passed away on July 29th, 2025, in Gerrardstown, West Virginia. He was born on January 28th, 1964, in New London, Connecticut, to Ronald and Judith Brown Polant. He is survived by his sister, Mary Polant Hannam (Brian Hannam), and Laura Polant Darrow (Matt Darrow); his sons, Lucas (Alycia Polant) and Alexander; and numerous family members and friends.
David was a 1982 graduate of Robinson High School, Fairfax, Virginia. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard from 1983 to 1987. In 1991, he graduated from George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia.
David was a Northern Virginia resident until 2009, when he proudly took ownership of his family’s West Virginia cabin home, where he stayed for the remainder of his days. Known for placing tremendous value on family—those blood-related and friends who earned that title—David was always there to show love, support, and his uniquely warm presence.
He loved riding his Harley-Davidson, shooting his many guns, providing spoiled lives to his many dogs throughout his life, enjoying the breathtaking views and surrounding nature of his home, and an ice-cold glass of [water]. David will be remembered for being incredibly generous to those around him—always dishing out favors and never expecting anything in return. He will be dearly missed.
David’s family will receive friends at Colonial Funeral Home in Leesburg, VA, on Monday, August 18th from 11AM to 1PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Coast Guard Mutual Assistance Program in memory of himself and RADM Ronald Marion Polant (USCG, Ret.).
