Jerry William Juliana, a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer of Martinsburg, WV, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2025, at the age of 78. A devoted husband, brother, and friend, Jerry’s legacy is one of service, adventure, humor, and love.
Born in Roswell, New Mexico, on November 29, 1946, to Joseph and Lorraine (Robertson) Juliana, Jerry grew up in Carlsbad, NM. He fondly recalled his youth filled with hunting, fishing, and a lively fascination with nature—particularly snakes, much to his family’s amusement and occasional alarm. Jerry graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1964 and promptly enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He dedicated 22 years to his country as an Ocean Systems Technician, supervising and managing operations with skill and precision. During his service, he met and married the love of his life, Yukie, while stationed in Japan in 1972.
A man of wit and charm, Jerry’s sense of humor and storytelling ability made him unforgettable. Whether sharing tales of his adventures catching rattlesnakes for gas money, his altar boy exploits at St. Edwards Catholic School, or his storied Navy career, he had a way of connecting with everyone he met. His love of learning and curiosity were lifelong, inspiring those around him to explore their passions.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Yukie Juliana; his brother, Mike (Pam) Juliana; his sisters, Mary (George) Weaver, Jean (David) Oakes, and Betty (Phil) Bodman. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John “Bob” Robert Juliana and Anthony “Tony” Joseph Juliana.
Jerry’s Military Honors service will be held at Winchester National Cemetery, Winchester, VA at 11 a.m. on January 29, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation, honoring Jerry’s patriotism and commitment to supporting his fellow veterans.
He was loved by many, admired for his service and dedication, and cherished for the laughter and joy he brought into the lives of others. Jerry leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and unforgettable memories
