Born on December 18, 1955 in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Richard and Ruby Mitchem.
Tommy was a member of Back Creek Valley Full Gospel Church.
He enjoyed working with his father at National Fruit, and Copley Construction Company, and retired from Perry Engineering Company.
He will be sadly missed by his siblings: David Wayne Mitchem, Allen Ned Mitchem, Dennis Lee Mitchem, Esther Dockeney, and Ruby Jean Mitchem; many nieces and nephews including special nieces who were like his daughters: Priscilla Yates and Melissa Mitchem.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Jackie Mitchem.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 6-8pm at Back Creek Valley Full Gospel Church.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10am at the church. Interment will follow in Back Creek Valley Full Gospel Church Cemetery.
